What is an Energy Service Company?
An Energy Service Company, or ESCO, is an energy supplier approved by the New York Public Service Commission to provide natural gas or electricity to customers through utility lines. Customers purchase their supplies from the ESCO, which charges them for those supplies. The utility delivers those supplies and charges for that delivery.
How much can I save by switching to Northeastern Energy?
Our customers typically save between 5% and 15% off their natural gas utility bill. Like other ESCOs, we purchase only gas supplies for our customers and eliminates many of the other costs charged by utilities, such as delivery charges, some taxes and other state-regulated fees. Therefore we are able to pass along those savings to our customers.
Is there a fee for switching?
No, there is no fee for switching to Northeastern Energy for your natural gas supplies.
If I buy my gas from Northeastern Energy, who will deliver it?
Your local gas company will continue to deliver your gas supplies, just as they always have. You simply will be purchasing those supplies from Northeastern Energy – and saving money.
Who will read my meter?
Your local gas company will continue to read your meter, just as they do now.
Will I receive two bills?
You will receive only one bill, just as you do now and at the same time you usually receive it. The one bill will reflect both the delivery charges of the utility, and their related fees and taxes, and Northeastern Energy’s charge for the supply portion of the bill.
Who do I call if I smell gas?
You will continue to call your utility if you smell gas or for any other natural gas emergency.
Who do I call if I have a problem with my natural gas equipment?
Northeastern Energy services and repairs all natural gas heating equipment and appliances. We also offer a variety of service contracts to fit our customers’ needs and budgets. Our emergency service hotline is available 24-7 and our service crews are committed to being there when our customers need us.
Who do I call if I have a problem with my bill?
You may call your utility if you have a question about the non-supply charges on your bill and Northeastern Energy with a question about the supply charges. If you are unsure, simply call us – we’re here for you.
Can I go back to the utility?
Yes, you will be free to return to the utility for your supply purchases at any time. You simply must give us 30-day notice so we may ensure your switch is complete.
I don’t have gas service. How can I convert?
We make it easy to convert to natural gas . We sell and install the finest name-brand gas heating and water heating equipment for homeowners, apartment buildings and businesses of all sizes, including restaurants. We also handle dual fuel customers.
How long will it take to convert?
For homeowners we can have you enjoying the savings and benefits of natural gas in one day. For commercial customers the length of the conversion varies, but we ensure all permitting and arrange for all inspections to make your switch as easy and fast as practical.
